Intro: How to Cure a Headache

This instructable will show how to cure a headache in many situations.

STEP 1: Identify Your Resources

If you are young and your parents are home simply ask them if they have any ibuprofen to help your headache. If they are unsure of what it is use the more common name like advil. If they have some continue to step 2. If you don't live with your parents anymore, ibuprofen is usually hidden in the bathroom in the cabinet behind the mirror, under the sink, or in the drawers around it. Also, it can be on the top shelf of a linen closet where blankets, sheets etc. are kept. If you find some go to step 2. If you couldn't find any or don't believe in medication go to step 4. A third situation people are commonly in is being out when a headache strikes for this, go to step 5.

STEP 2: You've Struck Gold!

NOTE: I AM NOT LIABLE FOR ANY OVERDOSE OF MEDICATION BECAUSE YOU MISUNDERSTOOD THIS ARTICLE AND THOUGHT YOU SHOULD TAKE THEM ALL. The next thing you'll need is a glass of water. Now, read the label on the ibuprofen carefully! Find the correct dosage for your size and age. The most likely dosage is 1 or 2. Now take a sip of water, but do not swallow, next drop the pill(s) in and swallow. Now drink the rest of the water because fluids are important to feel better. So fill up the glass again and take slow sips.

STEP 3: Find a Comfy Spot.

You'll need to find a nice cool spot where it can be dark and quiet. I like to choose a bed. Next, turn on the air conditioner or fan and relax. Your headache should subside soon. I find it most comfortable to lie flat on my back to relax most in this situation.

STEP 4: No Ibuprofen

for this you'd need to do almost the same as step 3. So turn off the lights, turn on the air conditioner, drink lots of water, and lie down. It'll be a little more uncomfortable than with ibuprofen and will take longer, so i like to lay down as if sleeping rater that to like flat on my back for step 3.

STEP 5: Out of the House

If you are out of the house with a headache it can be very hard to feel comfortable. One of the best strategies is to find a placeyou call your own like a cubicle, desk, or often visited restaraunt. Then, just rest for a few minutes letting your thoughts drift away, refrain from contact with others for just a few minutes, then get a nice cold drink and return to reality. Even a few minutes can make all the difference in feeling better.

I have a really weird headache, I'm fine when I'm not moving but if I lay down to long or don't move for to long, my head pounds to the point of pain every time I take a step. Can anyone help?

Tylenol (not spelled right here) is not Ibuprophin. It's Acetominophin (probably not spelled right). Don't ever take them together without being told to by a medical proffesional. They are not good together. I get several kinds of headaches: 1) Migraines. Not much can help, by Excederine Migraine does sometimes. Out of the light, out of the noise and sleep often work better. 2) Dehydration. If I don't take in enough liquids, I get headaches. I usually start with a 16 or 20 ounce of Gatoraid, then do a 20 ounce bottle of water or two. Medicine won't help me with these. 3) Muscular. My muscles just don't agree with me sometimes, and things get out of wack. Pain killers and a hot pack are my best bet with these. 4) Just for the fun of it. That's right. I get headaches for no good reason. No trigger. No fun. Pain killers are my only option, and the don't work every time.
You realize that at least in the US, Excedrin Migraine is the exact same thing as Excedrin, right? The instructions just tell you to take less, because migraine sufferers typically overdose, and they're 'concerned' about rebounds. From what I understand, in other countries it used to be that excedrin migraine had codeine in it. I'm not sure about what the status is, now. At least from what I've seen, though, Ex. Migraine and regular Ex. generally cost about the same. It just irritates me (and lots of other migraine sufferers) that they can advertise the same product under different guises.
I think that codeine might be only available to medical professionals, but don't quote me on that.
Depends on the country. In the US, it's available by prescription only. Usually, when prescribed for pain, it's prescribed as Tylenol 3's, which is Tylenol with Codeine. I haven't been up there in a number of years, but I used to go to Canada to get Tylenol with Codeine over the counter. It was Tylenol 2's, I think, which means it has less Codeine than the prescription stuff down here, but it works better than the over the counter stuff we have down here.
Just as I thought. Codeine is an opium.
YES! I have noticed that. I don't let it bother me, really. I usually just buy the store brand. Cheaper, with the same active ingredient. Works just as well for me.
i have a terrible migrane as i type this comment.................
I've read that there are specific massage techniques that relieve headaches as most of them are in the muscles on one's head
As an adult, I take and rely on good old fashioned Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). It's perfectly safe for simple headaches. If no Aspirin, Acetaminophen, or Ibuprofen are available and you live in an appropriate area, chew on some Willow bark; It contains salicin, an ingredient very similar to Aspirin that was the first recorded prescribed medicine by Hippocrates.
wwwwooooooooowwwww!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER TAKE ASPRIN IF YOUR UNDER 17

I did say, as an adult... Didn't I?

BTW: The experts say that aspirin shouldn't be given to children under 13, especially if they are displaying any flu like symptoms.
Don't forget to take acetylsalicylic acid with dihydrogen monoxide. = )
What?!?! Dihydrogen Monoxide? That is one of the most deadly substance on earth!
Nah, you get used to it after the burning, choking, blinding light, neverending pain, suicidal thoughts, and 20 other various side effects.
