5 Step Mason Jar Planter

This mason jar planter is fun and easy to make. My sister and I made it and are going to give it to our mom for Christmas. We personally are going to make it a herb of the month planter but it can be used for any sort of plant. It is also a great last minute gift. ( seeing as we did it in one evening.)

Step 1: Gather

For this project you will need:

• A plank of wood (1ft. wide x 3 ft. long)

• A can of chalkboard spray paint

• 3 medium mason jars

•. 1 roll of copper hanger tape ( 10 ft.)

•. Scissors

•. Screws ( 8 x 3/4 in. )

•. A sanding block

• Newspaper

•. Cordless screwdriver

Step 2: Sand and Paint

Lay out your newspaper. Take the wood and sand it with the sanding block and the do a single layer of chalkboard paint on the front and all of the edges. Wait for approximately 1 hour and flip. Paint the back and let sit for another hour.

( note: you might need to put more than one coat of paint one side depending on what you like. )

Step 3: Measure and Cut

Take your hanger tape and measure around the jar so that it won't fall when standing upright and there are still one or two holes on either side.

Step 4: Attach

Once you have measured and cut your hanger tape, you take your board and place the mason jars diagonally on the board and place a screw on either side in the holes.

( note: you might want to attach a bracket on the back to hanger it up. The best way to do this is to take some more hanger tape and screw it to the back so that it is 3 holes long. )

Step 5: Plant and Enjoy
