Introduction: Cheesey Pretzel Twists

About: Shiny is my favorite color. Blissfully living the American dream i never even believed in.

A quick , super easy way to impress the people around you with your fantastic culinary skills.. (even if you don't have any!). These take only about 10 minutes to make , and then 15 minutes in the oven.

These are great for appetizers, snacks, tailgating etc. Or if you need a quick "bring along" for holiday parties.

Step 1: A Few Simple Ingredients

ingredients:

baking soda

cheese of your choice*

biscuit dough (you could make your own if you prefer)

an egg

salt (optional)

*(You can use cheese sticks as shown on the right.. or cut a block of cheese into sticks as shown on the left)

* the cheese sticks can be frozen for 30 minutes to make them easier to handle, i usually forget to do this.

Tools/equipment:

saucepan

baking sheet lined with parchment paper

oven

stovetop

Step 2: Add Baking Soda and Water to a Pan

at the ratio of 1/4c baking soda per 4 cups water. Bring this to a boil. then reduce heat to simmer.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Step 3: Open Biscuit Dough

cut each round in half, then roll this into a snake

Step 4: Wrap the Cheese

starting from one end , wrap the snakes around your cheese sticks as shown. Make sure u cover all of the cheese , (I usually lay the stick flat and roll it back and forth to seal the seams better) You will end up with a cocoon type thing, place these on parchment paper as you go. Continue until all cheese is wrapped.

Step 5: Lower These Into the Pan of Water for ONE Minute

I use a slotted spoon for this and do it in batches, Do not leave them in the water longer than 1 minute or they will become a slimey mess. Place them back on the parchment lined baking sheet as you remove them , make sure they aren't touching.

Step 6: Make an Egg Wash

(scramble the egg) and use a brush to lightly coat the twists. (Optional) Sprinkle coarse salt over the tops.

bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes until brown. Remove and let cool a few minutes before serving.
