Introduction: Clear Packing Tape Wallet
I had a day off from school, and I decided to make something cool. I also knew that I needed a new, slimmer wallet. This is what I came up with. Enjoy!
Step 1: Get Ready for This
Alright, I'm assuming that most of you are gonna have regular, clear packing tape. You could even do this with duct tape, but a duct tape wallet would be heavier, and, obviously, not clear.
First, gather your materials:
Clear Packing Tape
Scissors
Dollar Bill (for sizing)
Credit Card, Library Card, etc. (also for sizing)

Step 2: A Little Bit of Prep Work
First, cut three strips of tape, each about 1/2 inch longer than a dollar bill on each end. Carefully stick them together (sticky side up) so that they overlap about 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch. See picture if you need a visual. You should end up with a rectangle of tape with one side that is completely sticky and the other not.
Step 3: Layers
Now repeat step 2. Then put one rectangle on top of the other, sticky side to sticky side. This will leave you with a completely non-sticky rectangle. Use the card to carefully squeeze out air bubbles as you lay the top rectangle down. It should now be pretty much clear. This is the body of the wallet.
Step 4: Trimming
Lay the dollar bill on top of the rectangle, fold the tape over the bill, and trim the tape so that there is at least 1/4 inch on each side of the bill, if not more. The bill should fit easily inside the wallet shape. Also make sure that you can lay the card upright completely inside the wallet.
Step 5: Folding
Once you trim the tape, remove the bill and card, and carefully tape up the edges. This will form the wallet.
Step 6: Finish
If you want, you can add a card holder like I did, but I will leave that up to you depending on how you want to design it. It will pretty much be the same procedure, though.
Put your cash and cards in, and fold it in half! It will take a while to break it in, but after it softens, it fold quite nicely. It is useful to keep it in your pocket for a while so that your body heat can help soften the plastic faster.
If you have any ideas for improvement, please post them in the comments for everyone to see. Thanks and Enjoy!!!
