Through following a few easy steps and using simple materials, you will be able to make your own beautiful 3D paper snowflake!

Supplies

Paper in a color or pattern of your choosing
Scissors
Pencil
Ruler
Glue
Fishing line or thin string if snowflake is to be hung

Step 1: Cut Out Six Squares of the Same Size.

Using a ruler to evenly measure the lengths, cut out six squares of paper that are identical in size. These are four-inch papers, but the size can be altered depending on your desired size of snowflake.

Step 2: Fold Square and Triangle in Half Diagonally.

Fold square in half diagonally. Then, fold the resulting triangle in half diagonally.

Step 3: Make Three Evenly-Spaced Cuts in the Triangle.

As evenly as possible, cut three slits into the triangle, starting on the SMALL FOLDED SIDE. Cut toward the opposite small side and stop the cut just before reaching the other side. DO NOT cut toward the long side of the triangle.

Step 4: Open Triangle Carefully.

CAREFULLY open the triangle, as it may be prone to tearing.

Step 5: Glue Inner Flaps Together.

Glue the small inner flaps together. A pencil may be helpful in this step if the flaps are too small to hold, but isn't mandatory.

Step 6: Glue Second Flaps Together.

Flip the square over and glue the second flaps together on the opposite side.

Step 7: Glue Third and Fourth Flaps Together.

Flip the paper over again and glue the third flaps on the other side. Flip once again and glue the fourth and final flaps on the other side. This is now one finished arm of the snowflake.
