Introduction: D.I.Y. Fleece Pillow

In this project, I will be showing you guys how to make a homemade, hand sewn, Christmas gift pillow!!!! It is a really easy project to do and a really nice gift to give to someone special!! Let get crafting!

Step 1: Materials

The materials needed for this project are:

Scissors

Fleece (any color)

Another Fleece ( any color but the fleece you already have)

Needle

Thread (any color)

Yarn (any color)

Hair Pick

Regualr Pillow or Polyester Fiberfill

Glue Gun (optional)

Glue Sticks (optional)

  • The yarn is just an extra part if you guys would like to put extra decorations on the pillow!!!

Step 2: Cut Out Fleece

You want to cut your fleece from a 19 inch length and a 23 inch width. cut two pieces of those dimensions that I just told you. Put both pieces on top of each other and trim them till they are even. Then we can move onto step 3.

Step 3: Hand Sewing the Fleece

When hand sewing the pillow, you only want to sew only 3 sides of the pillow, because if sew all 4 sides you can't fill the pillow up with polyester fiber fill. To sew the pillow, first you need to pin down down the fabric so it will not move. Then make a double knot at the corner of the pillow. Once you made the knot, you can start sewing. You want to use the over under technique, your stitch should be about 1/2 an inch over, and then go under al the fabric about the same 1/2 an inch.

Step 4: Adding in the Pillow

First you want to flip the pillow inside out before you add the pillow. You can either use a regular pillow to put in your pillow cover, or you can use polyester fiberfill to stuff in the pillow cover.

Step 5: Sewing the Last Piece

Once you either filled up your pillow with poly-fill or with a pillow, you need to sew the last piece to finish the pillow. You just need to do the exact same thing I told you. After this you are done with this project. You can go on but it is extra, you do not have to.

Step 6: Adding the Letter

To add the letter you need to have another color of fleece and cut out any letter you woud like to put on the pillow. To cut out the letter, you trace the letter that you want on the pillow and then cut it. After, you can either hot glue the letter or sew it in, it is your choice.

Step 7: Pom Poms on Each Corner

To do the pom poms, you need the hair pick and wrap the yarn around it 100 times. Once you are done wrapping, tie a piece of yarn around it and then cut all the loops in the pom pom. Make four and then do this, Use the extra string from the tieing and tie that part on the corner of the pillow.

Step 8: Finished
