Introduction: Facial Massage Techniques
I'm so excited for today's instructable because this is the ultimate at home pampering that you can give yourself a facial massage! Yes! Imagine how good it feels after a long hard day of work and someone comes and rubs your shoulders, that's heaven right? Guess what? All those facial expressions made during the day are done with muscles too! Which is great news for us because we can massage those muscles too! Hallelujah!
Not only does massage help to relieve stress and tension, but it's great for circulation too! For our face, that means more oxygenated blood to the skin leaving our faces renewed, healthy and beautiful!
Gravity is a force to be reckoned with. It literally keeps everything pulled to the ground which unfortunately means our necks and cheeks are pulled down with the rest of the world. That combined with our-million-times-a day facial expressions, which lend a hand in facial lines, everything seems to be not working in our favor. Luckily for us, we can manipulate massage techniques to help preserve our beautiful faces!
With so many great benefits, what's there to lose? Let's begin!
You'll need:
A clean face, massage cream for the face and your hands.
Step 1: Roll Pats X6
Using the whole of your palms, run your hands up the neck and underside of the chin. The motions are kind of like when you're signaling someone to continue talking with both of your hands going in a circular motion.
Step 2: Cheek Lifts X6
Using the whole of your palms again, lift the cheeks and glide gently back down. on the way down be sure not to apply pressure to the skin. Glide effortlessly back down to begin your next upward movement.
Step 3: Circle the Eyes X8
Using a combination of your fingers that are most similar in length (for me it's the middle and ring finger), start at the bridge of the nose and begin circling the eyes outwards, gliding effortlessly and with no pressure on the way down. Starting to get the gist? Downward movements = bad = no pressure = good for skin.
Step 4: Eye Lifts X10
Using your fingers again, concentrating on the outer corners of the eyes where crows feet usually are, apply pressure in an upward movement.
Step 5: Brow Lifts X10
Now we're going to work on our angry face lines. Soothe those muscles out by repeating the upward movement between the brows.
And there you have it, some really basic simple massage techniques for the face. Give someone you love a facial massage and they will love you forever. For some extra TLC, give a nice shoulder massage and you'll be turning them into butter in no time. Massage the face for no more than 15-20 minutes. For additional moves, you can rub the temples and massage the jaws under the ears.
