Introduction: Gourmet Cinnamon Rolls

Every body likes cinnamon. What is better than a delicious cinnamon filling, with a crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside roll wrapped around the cinnamon filling? Nothing? That's right!

I got this recipe from Rosanna Pansino on YouTube!

Step 1: What You'll Need

FOR THE ROLLS:

4 cups of all-purpose flour
1/2 cup of sugar
1 packet/1 teaspoon of yeast
1 teaspoon of salt
1 cup of warm whole milk
2 eggs
1/3 cup of butter

FOR THE FILLING:

1 cup of light brown sugar
2 1/2 tablespoons of cinnamon
2 tablespoons of flour

FOR THE ICING:

1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
1/2 cup of butter
1/4 cup of cream cheese

EXTRA:

1/3 cup of butter
Electronic mixing bowl

Step 2: Making the Filling

Mix the:

Light brown sugar
Cinnamon
Flour

Together in a medium mixing bowl.

Set aside for later.

Step 3: Making the Rolls (Part 1)

Dissolve the yeast in the milk.

Add the sugar and 1 of the 4 cups of flour. Mix it all up.

Cover it with cling wrap and let it sit for 30+ mins (I did 45 minutes).

(Use the electric mixer for this step)

Step 4: Making the Rolls (Part 2)

Add the:

Rest of the flour (add the flour in thirds. Mix between every application)
Salt
Eggs
Butter

To the roll mixture after it is done sitting and is more fluffy than before. Mix it all up (using the electric mixer).

When the dough starts to become like dough (sticky), spread some flour on your counter and knead the dough until it isn't sticky anymore.

Put the dough in a greased bowl and cover it with cling wrap to rise for 1+ hours (I did 1 hour and 15 minutes).

Step 5: Making the Cinnamon Rolls

When the dough is done rising, it should be 2-4 times bigger than it was when you first put it aside.

Punch the dough down until it returned to its normal size.

Put the dough on a flowered surface. Roll the dough out until it is 21"x16". It will be bigger than you think.

Take the extra 1/3 cup of butter and spread it on the rolled out dough.

Sprinkle on the cinnamon filling and leave about 1 inch of space at the top.

Roll the dough up until you have something that looks like a big burrito.

Pinch the roll where you finished rolling it up (if that was confusing, look at the pictures) to keep it from unrolling.

Cut the roll into 1-1 1/2" cinnamon rolls. Place them onto a greased (or lined with parchment paper) cookie sheet.

Put the cinnamon rolls into the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes.

Step 6: Making the Icing

Cream the:

Cream cheese
Powdered sugar
Vanilla extract
Salt
Butter

Together until smooth, like icing.

(Use the electric mixer for this step)

Step 7: Finishing Up

Take the cinnamon rolls out of the oven and immediately put the icing on them.

Let them cool.

Serve them as is.

Step 8: Fun Fact

Did you know that the cinnamon that we are used to (with the spicy punch) is not really cinnamon? It is actually cassia. Real cinnamon has a floral taste. Surprising, right?
