tired of the plain-looking design you see whenever you close your laptop cover? this instructable will show you how to add a glowing logo to your laptop cover to give it a more personalized look and feel. give your electronic friend a facelift by following the instructions below.

Step 1: Disassemble

disassemble your laptop

make sure to handle it with care

remove the housing from the lcd

Step 2: Sanding and Carving

i removed the lenovo and thinkpad logo on the housing thats why i need to put body filler as seen on the pictures

copy your logo to the housing

cut the foil and foam pad on the back of your housing enough for your logo to fit

cut your logo through the housing, i used a cutter and exacto knife

yehey!

after few hours of cutting now your logo passes through the housing of your laptop lcd

sand the excess body filler off using fine grit sandpaper

Step 3: Test

test it, put the lcd back to the housing

re-connect lcd to the motherboard

power up your laptop

if some of the wires are blocking your logo you need to cut and extend the wires so that you can make it go around your desired logo.

Step 4: Painting

make sure you sand it using a fine grit sandpaper

clean the surface (wipe it or wash it)

make sure that the surface is dry before applying any types of paint or primer

spray a thin layer of plastic primer

wait for it to dry for a few minutes

paint it all with the spray paint of your choice

while waiting drink coffee eat donuts enjoy your life...

Step 5: Plexiglass

after few hours check if its dry already

place a thin plexiglass on the inside of the housing

the color of the glowing logo depends on the color of the plexiglass.

i used a frosted white plexiglass

Step 6: Reassemble

put everything back to place

Step 7: Done
