Introduction: Making Drinks at Home: the Perfect Old Fashioned

Our first cocktail is a classic and one of our favourites: The Old Fashioned.

With a little planning there's no reason why you can't be making your own, top quality Old Fashioned's at home.

Step 2: Ingredients Required:

As you can tell from the picture, this drink requires premium ingredients to make a great drink.

INGREDIENTS:

  • HUDSON MANHATTAN RYE
  • FEE BROTHER'S WHISKEY BARREL AGED BITTERS
  • LUXARDO MARASCHINO CHERRIES
  • SMALL PIECE OF ORANGE SKIN
  • LIGHT BROWN SUGAR (1 CUBE)
  • 25CL WARM WATER
  • ICE CUBES AND LARGE BLOCK OF ICE TO SERVE

EQUIPMENT:

  • DRINKS STIRRER
  • TWO GLASSES
  • DRINKS STRAINER
  • COCKTAIL STICK
  • DRINKS MEASUREMENT CUP


Step 3: Process 1/3

First add your sugar cube to the mixing glass
Add 8 drops of the Whiskey Bitters
Now Pour over your warm water
Crush and grind sugar to a liquid (approx. 20 seconds)

Step 4: Process 2/3

Add Ice cubes so glass is 3/4 full (the melted ice adds as a mixer)
Add Rye (at least 50ml)
Stir, allowing some of the ice to melt, forming a mixer for the drink

Step 5: Process 3/3

Place Large block of ice in drinking glass
Strain Whiskey mix into glass
Twist orange peel
Add pierce Maraschino Cherry with cocktail stick and add to the top of the glass
