Introduction: Upcycle Binder
Don't toss those old binder yet. Try to recycle that old binder into something new and chic.
Step 1: Gather Materials Needed
Materials needed for this project are as follows:
- 2 empty cereal boxes
- old magazine, catalog or calendar with a stiff front and back cover
- binder rings (from an old binder)
- scrap paper
- scoring board
- paper trimmer
If you do not own a scoring board use a ruler and pencil. You can also substitute a paper trimmer with scissors.
Step 2: Trim the Outer Edges Off Your Cereal Boxes.
Step 3: Measure the Size of the Binder Rings and Trim the Cereal Boxes to Fit.
In this project, the height of the cereal box is 9 1/2 inches and the width of the box is 7 5/8 inches.
Step 4: Take One of the Cereal Boxes and Cut the Box in Three Parts. Glue and Tape to the Back of the Other Cereal Box.
Cutting this box into 3 parts, gluing and taping will avoid causing unsightly creases.
Step 5: Select the Cover of the Binder by Selecting an Old Magazine, Catalog or Calendar Cover.
In this project, I chose to cover the front and back of the binder with an old calendar. While the side is covered with an old magazine.
Step 6: Trim the Covers to Fit the Cereal Box .
I added a piece of card stock for the side of the binder to make it more stable.
Step 7: Glue or Tape the Covers to the Binder.
Step 8: Glue the Binder Ring to the Middle of the Binder. Let Dry.
Step 9: If Desired, Decorate the Binder.
I decorated the binder with washi tape and label holder.
