Introduction: Wristband Magnetic Fastener Holder

About: Married father of 5 (4 boys and 1 girl). A Captain in the Fire Department with over 25 years of service. Grew up turning wrenches at my fathers garage. That turned into a love of building things with my hands.
I found this leather wristband in my closet the other day. I really don't have any memory of being a male stripper and I don't know where it came from. I was about to throw it out when I was hit with a little inspiration.

Step 1: I Found These Counter Sunk Rare Earth Magnets on Amazon a While Back.

I didn't really have a use for the magnets when I bought them but I thought they were cool. I knew at some point I'd need them for something. I like using these kind of magnets for projects. I usually drill a hole and glue them in place. I thought being able to screw them down would be better. Turns out, they were perfect for this project.

Step 2: Attaching the Magnets

I first tried to glue a piece of wood to the band and screw the magnets to that. That didn't work. After a couple of tries it popped off. I then came up with the idea to rivet them in place. In retrospect, I should have lead with that. Way easier and I'm kinda ashamed I didn't think of it first. Four simple holes....four rivets...done.

Step 3: Final..

It works great. Very simple project and a lifetime of use around the house. So next time you're at a biker rally or something pick one up. Rivet a few magnets to it and you have a wrist mounted fastener holder. Good luck.
