This is my diy halloween costume.

Step 1: Materials

For this project you will need to get:

1x Some Cardboard boxes (that will be bigenough to fix over youe head and shoulders)
1x self splicing rope 50cm long
1x corex cardboard (only half as thick as normal cardboard and is only go one side on it) long enough to go around the circle that will be the head peice insert
3x christmas lights
3x leds
1x toggle switch
1x 2 aa battary holder
1x 3 or 6 pin jumper plug (male)
1x 3pin female plug
1x two pole switch
1x lots of wire to link things
lots and lots of hot glue (my best friend)
Wood glue
Red Paint and Black Paint

Step 2: Phase One (the Head Peace)discription

in this phase we will be making the head peace .
this is the peace that rests on your head and holds the rest of the costume in shape .

Step 3: The Circles

For this step you need a box that is big enough to go over your sholders
this will ensure that ihe circles ae big enough to enclose your entire body.

No you need to work out the centre of the box this is so you can draw the circles in the centre of the box

you will need a ruler and a pencil

Step 4: Making the Circles

In this step you will be making the head peace incerts

you will need A pencil , string , tape , a nail.

1 tape the pencil to the string .
2 measure the distance from the centre to the side , this will be the radius of your circle.
3 measure the same distance from the tip of the pencil to a point on the rope .
4 knock a nail threw the rope at that point
5 now you have a compass
6 push the nail into the cardboard at the centre mark and make an arc around the cardboard to make a circle

Step 5: Cuting Out the Circles

In This step you will be cutting out the circles

using a trim knife cut carefullly on the arc to cut out the two circles

Step 6: Cutting the Inner Circle for Your Head

1 now you must measure your head so you know wat size to make the head hole
2 once you have the radius of your head change the compass to the radius of your head
3 choose the disk that looks the worst and draw a circle in the middle of it
4 now carefully cut the circle out and try it on
5 you may need to ajust the hole to make it nicely

Step 7: Glueing the Two Halfs Together

in this step you need to join the two peaces of the head peace together

1 first make 4 spacers about 100mm high and length does not really matter
2 tack them to the base with hot glue
3 now glue them with wood glue
4 once the base is hard do the same to the top
this will complete the frame of the head peace

Step 8: The Fuse Holder

this is a simple part

1 Find a threded joint thing and a nut for it
2 measure the size of the side you are going to mount it with
3 using your hand and a drill bit make a hole for the thing to go threw
4 put it threw and tighten it BY HAND

Step 9: Phase 2 (the Electronics)

in this Phase you will make the electronic part of the project

Step 10: The Circiut

Step 11: The Fuse

For the fuse you will need to

1 used binding wire and twisted it together as the core and this also acts as the negative termanal to the leds
2 remove the christmas lights globes and replace them with leds (my leds were saved off a free board i found ,so i had to exend the leads )
3 solder the one lead from the light fitting to the binding wire and the other to a peace of wire long enough to go threw the rope and into the head peace.
4 now tape the end of the wires together and feed them threw the self splicing rope and tape the ends so they don't split
5 i found that the lights weighed to much so i put a peace of copper wire up the rope for support
6 once you have cut the fuse to size put it in the joint thing to test it
7 now remove it and paint it brown

Step 12: Flasher

this is how to make the circiut

1 connect the negative lead of the battary pack to the binding wire in the fuse
2 connect the positive wire from the battary pack to the toggle switch
3 connect the other tab on the toggle switch to one wire that goes to the fuse and also to the middle pin if the jumper plug .
4 connect the other two leads from the fuse to the other two pins on the jumper plug

the onboard circiut is done

Step 13: The Trigger

This is how to make the flash switch

1 find 3 wires long enough to reach
down your arm into your hand and also reach the jumper plug
2 find a power led plug from in a computer (3 pin)
3 get a reset switch from a pc
4 on the reset switch there are 6 pins , only 2 will be used
5 bridge the middle pins
6 if pins one and two on side one are used then connect the other wire to pin 3 on the other side
7 i used a no. 10 pill container as a housing
8 drill a hole in the bottom of the container
9 feed the wires threw the hole and tie a knot in the wire so it does not pull threw
10 solder the switch on and the plug on the other end
11 put the switch in and fill it in with hot glue
12 once the glue is dry cut the exess off

Step 14: Finishing Flasher

now the flasher is finished when you turn it on the one led should be on
when you plug the trigger in another led should be coming on and when you push the switch the third led should come on and the second should go off.

Step 15: Phase 3 (the Tube)

In This phase u will make the tube for the cracker

Step 16: Making the Tube

In this step you will need to

1 roll the corex into a tube the same size as your head peace
2 using claps glue it together
3 using paper and glue reinforce joint

Step 17: Put the Head Peace in and Fit It

in this step you need to

1 fold the top edge of the cracker over so it acts as a stoper for the head peace
2 put the head peace in
3 climb in and get some one to help mark were your face is and were your arms are
4 cut them out and reinforce the holes
