Introduction: Hot Glue Spider Web

About: I love to make useful things with the help of Scrap. Creative and Innovative one.

In this instructable, I made a Spider Web with the help of hot glue. This is an easy project. With hot glue you can make a spider web looks similar to the original web as the hot glue looks like the strands of the spider web. Let’s make it!

Supplies

  • Electrical wire duct/casing (length = 120 cm)
  • Sewing polyester thread reel/spool (1 piece)
  • Super glue
  • Glue sticks
  • White PLA Filament

Tools

  • Scissors
  • Sewing Needle
  • Measuring Scale
  • Mini Hacksaw
  • Glue Gun
  • 3D Printer

Step 1: Frame

The frame consists of four electrical wire duct/casing bars of length = 30 cm each.

At the corner of each duct make a cut at 45 degrees so as to make the frame perfect.

Join all the corners of the frame with the help of super glue and leave it to dry. After drying, the frame is ready for next process.

Step 2: Basic Structure

The spider web consists of straight strands and circular strands (not in the form of regular circles but similar to it). I used white sewing thread to prepare these strands which works as the base of this spider web.

First make the straight strands by gluing the sewing thread on one side of the duct frame with the help of super glue. Total 6 threads required to make straight strands. The threads intersect at the centre of the frame. Take the help of images. After making straight strands, make circular strands with the help of thread and sewing needle. The circular strands intersect with straight strands at different points which make a node. I made total nine circular strands with thread and two smaller circular strands made with the help of super glue. Take the help of images.

Now the basic structure is ready.

Step 3: Glue Spider Web

Take out your Glue gun, insert the glue stick and switch it ON. Now, start gluing. Start gluing on the straight strands and then on the circular strands. During gluing, push the trigger of the glue gun slowly and maintain a constant speed otherwise you get few blobs but these are very small so neglect them.

Glue the entire strands in the same way. Check all the strands and make sure that there is no break in it. Now, the spider web frame is ready.

Step 4: 3D Printed Spider

I have made a 3D printed spider for this project. I used White PLA Filament. The STL model of the spider is quite large but you can edit it according to your requirement. The 3D model is prepared with the help of Tinkercad. As I am new to 3D printing world you may find model imperfect. If you don't like it you can make your own. The STL and Gcode file attached below:

Step 5: Assembling All Parts

Paste the spider model at the centre of the web frame with hot glue. The Hot Glue Spider Web is ready.

I hope you like this project. Thank you.
