Introduction: Bottle Light - Upcycle Vape Battery

See a lot of these vapes getting thrown out.

Turns out the internal battery is rechargeable.

Runtime 6-8hrs per charge

Use UBSC cable to charge

Cost of project is less than $1

They are great for camping, mood lighting, bedside lamp even blackouts

Supplies

1x used vape battery - to suit the size of the bottle neck

1x push button switch

1x TP4056 charging module with USBC port

1 x 15ohm resistor

1x USBC cable for charging

50cm led light wiring

Step 1: Soldering the Battery

Start off with soldering negative tab of battery to B- connection on the the charger board

Step 2: Adding the Switch and Resistor

Solder the resitor to the OUT- connection on the charger board.

Solder the switch to the resistor - make sure there is enough length to have the switch orientated close to the USB charge port

*Note - will need to experiment with correct connection to the switch for proper on/off operation

Step 3: Adding the LEDs

Need to check which way the LEDs connect. the wire has a fine insulator that needs to cleaned off before soldering to the battery and charger board.

The positive side of the LEDs will need to be connected the charger board B+ connection and then to the positive side of the vape battery

Step 4: Final Assembly

At this stage you can test if the circuit works. If not it could be the battery too flat. Plug in charger cable and charge.

The circuit should work - If not the LEDs are connected the wrong way

If everything is working then use hotglue to secure they switch to the charger board.

I use black electical tape to cover the board.

You will need to see how big the neck of the bottle is when choosing the size of the battery
