Introduction: The BRO Clock - Vinyl Record Clock

Made from an old vinyl record and a $.35 clock (bought from a garage sale) this vintage music inspired DIY clock is very simple to create and would make a perfect addition to any man cave! Here is what you will need to get started:

- A vinyl record (with a cool word or design is preferable)
- A cheap plastic clock
- Screwdriver
- A pocket knife (optional)
- Picture hanging clip
- A hot glue gun
- AA battery

Step 1: Time to Take Apart the Clock...

The first thing your going to want to do is to remove the clocks faceplate and the easiest way to do that is to pry it out with a pocket knife. Mine came out pretty easily. Once the faceplate is off, your going to want to remove the clock hands and clock mechanism. The hands pull off easily enough but clock mechanism at the back can be a bit tricky. I found that using my pocket knife to pry it off from underneath worked really well. (That glue they use is pretty strong) And were done!.....the disassembly.

Step 2: The Fun Part!

Now comes the fun part. Simply remove your record from its protective paper casing and hold it upright. This will tell you where 12 O'clock is. Once you know where 12 O'clock you can easily determine how to glue the clock mechanism down. Now, turn the record over and glue the clock mechanism level and perpendicular to "12 O'clock" and make sure that the center spindle goes through the center of the record. (I used contact cement at first but decided to switch to hot glue.)

Once you have firmly glued down the clock mechanism, your going to want to also glue the picture hanger to the back of the record so that the clock can hang level.

Step 3: All Finished!

Now all you have to do is reattach the hand to the clock. Remember the order to put them on is HOUR HAND > MINUTE HAND > SECOND HAND. And now your done! Sit back and enjoy your BRO record clock. I lucked out with my clock and happened to find a record with the word "BROS" on it but there are a ton of records with great designs and words. Stop by your local thrift shop and take a look.
