Introduction: Make 3D Printed Modern Bluetooth Speakers With Old Earphone

About: Just want to explore the vastness of science and make useful stuffs!!

Hi friends in this project I will show you how I made this 3D Printed Modern Bluetooth Speaker with Old earphone and Tinkercad.

This project is unique in many ways first of all the main components for this project were scavenged parts of an old Bluetooth speaker and the body was designed with Tinkercad and then 3d printed, To my surprise this design was not found anywhere on the internet.

This speaker has a very decent sound output and is perfect for listening to music.

Features of this Bluetooth speaker

As said earlier this is made from 3d printed parts so the choice of customizing is endless, Coming to the technical specifications it has pause/play, forward, and reverse button.

It has 2 charging ports so the independent battery ensures a good music playback time.

This is the perfect bedtime speaker because of its size and aesthetics and also the cost of building this Bluetooth speaker is much less.

In this project, I will show you how I built this in very detailed steps so that you can build one for yourself too.

Supplies

I have used these parts to build this project, If you are willing to make this project consider using the same materials

Speakers from here

Sound amplifier board

Old earphones (I scavenged the battery and Bluetooth board from here)

Charging board - Tp4056

Lithium-ion battery

Small switch Micro

3D printer Best Value

PLA filament all colors

Hot Glue

Computer to run Slicing software

Step 1: 3D Design With Tinkercad

I designed the model with Tinkercad from Scratch and I have given all of the 3d files below with the name of the parts.

If you are willing to print this you can directly download the files and slice them with Cura, For beginners, Cura is nothing but a slicing software to slice the model for 3d printing.

We don't need any support to print this model so we almost don't have to stress about post processing.

Slice the model with a 30% infill rate and use the PLA filament to print the model, it will take less time to 3d print the model.

Feel free to use the color of the filament as per your choice.

Step 2: 3d Printing

I had a wooden filament lying on the cupboard so I thought of giving it a try to print the main body and the results seemed to be amazing.

The rest of the parts were printed taking into consideration of the color combinations that I thought would best suit this speaker

After we have all the parts read we can head over to the electronics part.

Note that the main body was designed to hold the 18650 battery and this also contributes to the balance of the speaker to stand still on any flat surface, so you can only use this battery type.

Step 3: Preparing the Speakers

I got these speakers online at a very cheap price and the sound output is good, Start by soldering the wires to the speaker, and the thickness of the wire should be small, This is because the holders of the speaker tube have a small hole to hold the wires.

After the wires are soldered insert into the tube and the back part of the speakers are glued to the holders.

Repeat the same steps to the other speaker too, Now the rings are glued to the speaker top to make it look cool.

Avoid using hot glue here since it might disfigure the 3D-printed parts.

These 2 speakers are connected to the amplifier board directly.

Step 4: Scavenging Old Bluetooth Earphone

This is the most fun part of this project, If you have used this kind of earphones before you know this won't last long.

Either both the earphones stop working or anyone stops working this will make the earphones unusable, So I decided to use Bluetooth and the battery part from these earphones.

Removing this was very easy just press the rectangle box that holds the electronics and you should be able to get the parts.

The important thing here is it has insulated wires between the connecting parts, In this project I replaced those wires with regular jumper wire cables.

This part needs careful soldering since we are dealing with small parts, If you are a beginner seek guidance from experts.

Step 5: Soldering Everything Together

This part would be a little tricky for beginners who are new to soldering since we are dealing with very small parts.

I soldered the charging board first and then inserted the wires via the slots given in the body, the wires are then soldered to the battery.

Now the output from the charging board was connected to the power pin of the speaker amplifier board. The only thing pending on the speaker amplifier board is the sound input

The sound input is from the Bluetooth module from the earphone.

Connect the wires and you can see the circuit that connects all the parts together, Carefully insert the amplifier board inside the slot given inside the body.

Place all the electronics and clear the wire mess, it will take a little time to perform this step but the results are amazing.

Step 6: Finishing

This part was all about arranging the components to the most desired place, Since the overall project is small arranging the individual components was challenging, But thanks to the design i was able to keep everything in place and finish the project clean.

To use this project all you have to do is turn on the Bluetooth earphone button and next the switch that powers on the speaker

Connect the Bluetooth and play some music, You can now control the function on the board too.

This speaker has good battery backup and you can recharge the batteries with a USB 2.0 cable for both the Bluetooth module and the speaker power circuit.

Hope you liked this project, try to build this and keep one for yourself or gift it to your loved ones, Thanks and i have given a video of this project below.

Step 7: Working Video of 3d Printed Bluetooth Speaker

This video shows the working of this Bluetooth speaker and you should not miss watching this, Also the video has the complete build tutorial of this project.

If you liked this project don't forget to give it a try to build this, This can be your companion if you like listening to music.

That's all about building this Bluetooth speaker, if you have any questions ask me in the comments. Thank you
