Introduction: Paper Flapping Bird!

About: I'm 14 years old and like to build and create. I like programming, CAD and Blender. I was introduced to tinkercad during remote learning and am now hooked to all things 3D.

In this instructable you will create a cool flapping bird from paper.

The design is really cool and easy to create.

Supplies

Paper!

A printer or ruler.

Scissors

And glue

Step 1: Print of Sheet

First of all you need to print of the sheet provided below↓

Step 2: Colouring

The reason I do this step before cutting is that colouring on smaller paper is harder and can crease it more easily.

I started with a pale blue then moved to darker on the edges. Finally I added feather effects.

However, you don't have to copy me me as this is where your bird becomes unique.

Use your imagination!

(on the underside of the sheet you may also want to colour the parts as some of these will be seen when in action.)

Step 3: Cut and Fold

Cut out all of the solid lines.

Once you have done this fold along all of the dotted lines in both directions.

Step 4: The Assembly

here's the steps with photos in corresponding order.

  1. The first step is to feed the T piece through the holes with the horizontal joint at the front.
  2. Glue the bottom two tabs onto the sides
  3. Next glue the remanding tab from the bottom to the final side.
  4. Also glue the final sides tab to the next side along
  5. Now glue the roof to the first two tabs on top
  6. Once that is dry stick the final tab on.

now that you have made the main body of the bird we can move on to the details

Step 5: Details

Glue on the trapezium shape at the bottom this will be a tail.

And then the two remaining pieces become wings. Glue them o either side of the model.

Step 6: Complete!

Now you have a completed flappy bird!

By tugging on the tail the two wings should flap just like a birds.

Remember that creativity will bring your birds to life!
